On Tuesday 25th April, Springdale played in the first round of the Leprechaun Cup, a cricket competition played throughout the province of Leinster during the summer term. We were a little unfortunate to have been drawn against Howth Road National School who included a number of very talented cricketers in their team. On a cold but bright morning in Clontarf Cricket Club, Springdale bowled first and succeeded in bowling the Howth Road team out for 112 runs. Akos Lorincz took 3 wickets, Declan Brayden and Adam Irvin 2 each, while, James Bailey, Guilherm Rodrigues and Jonathan Groult all took 1. It was a great effort with some excellent bowling and some very fine catches taken. In reply, Springdale made 80 runs with Oisin Cummins top scoring with 12 runs. Everyone contributed to the total and the game was played in a very good atmosphere and we wish Howth Road the best of luck in the next round.
