As part of European Week of Sports, Cricket Leinster’s development officer invited Springdale to a cricket blitz last Tuesday. A team (4th to 6th) comprising of those who had played cricket during the summer, as well as those keen to give it another go, headed down to the Alfie Byrne
sports complex for some quick fire games in weather certainly suited to the summer game.
Springdale played 2 games and won both of them, showing a lot of the skills instilled by Michael Hingstgon, who runs the school yard cricket in the summer term and the Clontarf CC coaches.
Not only was there a great sense of sportsmanship and camaraderie shown by our players in
their encouragement of the inexperienced players, but also towards the opposition when
numerous players volunteered to field for teams who were short a few players.
A good day out that leaves us dreaming of another summer of sport!
