We were delighted when we received the news that two of our 5th Class students won 1st prize in the Northside Partnership Art Competition. They enjoyed a trip to collect their prizes and have described it below:

‘The prize giving for the competition was held on Thursday, 11th April 2019. When we got there, the room was crowded with artists, families and teachers from other schools. A speaker spoke about the importance of young people being creative. She also spoke about the importance of looking after the environment.

There were different categories in the competition including a category for children with additional needs. We won 1st prize in the 5th/6th Class Category.

All of the pictures were displayed. It was like an art gallery for everyone to enjoy. There was also a rolling digital screen of all the artwork.

Then the actual prize giving began and we had to go to the front of the room to collect our prize. We received a voucher each for the Art and Hobby Shop.

Nila Rae has already purchased new colouring pencils, a colouring book and a scratch pad. Scott chose 2 masks, paint and markers.

Ms. Cahill thought the picture was so good that she got it framed and it is now hung on the wall in the main corridor of the school for all to enjoy for years to come.

We enjoyed working on the project together and the chance to be creative. We are looking out for our next competition to enter!’
