For the last few months eight pupils, under the supervision of Ms Kenny,  have been busy building Huey the Robot. Huey can stack pins, move backwards and forwards and from side to side through a controller. As well this, he has been programmed through the coding skills of the team to pick up stacks and gain points.

On Tuesday, Huey, his personal photographer and his builders headed to Tallaght to play the game, Mix and Match, against other schools and their robots. When they arrived they got straight to work practising with Huey. The competition began but it wasn’t a good start for the Springdale Loaders. However, by the third round, they had worked hard to achieve the newest high score. After more very successful rounds, disaster struck…..

Huey decided he wasn’t turning any more. Ross and Ruben came to the rescue and managed to stack the pins and get them into the goal without turning. The Springdale Loaders were delighted when they took first place with Rathdown National School.

Huey and his team are now off to Cork for the Nationals- we wish them the very best of luck!
